Juneteenth Celebration
Join us on June 19th at Charles White Park for a celebration of freedom! Also known as “Jubilee Day”, Juneteenth began in Galveston, Texas when word of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Texans in 1865. This event is presented by Dena United, a coalition comprised of My Tribe Rise, Compassionate ARTS, SURJ (Showing Up For Racial Justice), and many other local partners. Don’t miss this wonderful chance to connect with the community!
Community Workshops
Partnered with Dena United, the Soul Force Project is presenting three workshops throughout the summer that are open and public to the community. Click here to learn more.
Protest in Harmony: celebrating the life of fe love
We are celebrating the life of Felecia "Fe Love" Lenee Williams, the founder of Compassionate Arts in Action and c0-founder of Dena United. The memorial will be in the form of a peace walk demanding justice for the death of Anthony McClain and a concert featuring local Altadena and Pasadena musicians. Facebook Event Here
We pay tribute to our dear sister and kindred spirit Felicia Williams aka 'Fe Love', a dynamic artist, community organizer and peacemaker. While in your body you were a tireless advocate for compassion, racial justice and the power of art and activism. It was a privilege to initiate the Dena United with you, to hike and organize and march alongside you in Pasadena and Altadena. Rest in peace, you will continue to be an inspiration and we honor you and your indomitable spirit. - Dena United Coalition Team
